We use a specially configured, remote controlled helicopter, which enables us to capture angles never before seen. The helicopter has a rotor of 1.8m in diameter with carbon-fiber symmetrical blades.
The camera mount is below the nose of the helicopter and it is under active gyroscopic stabilization, allowing very stable shots. Various camera and video equipment can be put on the camera mount, upon client’s requests and controlled via remote. The camera mount performs panning, tilting and rolling movements. This means that it is a dedicated media platform and it is not used for other purpose. The helicopter is capable of lifting heavy camera equipment (up to 4 kilograms).
This system is controlled by two operators with separated remote controls: the pilot controls the helicopter; the cameraman is in charge of the camera system. Both operators are under constant communication allowing better shot coordination. Live Video-link gives the cameraman and the director a chance to control the scene through one or more monitors in real time.
